Both sharing a love of Asia, Emma and Peter decided to go to Bali for their honeymoon. They used a honeymoon gift registry so that their friends and family could contribute towards their trip, making it even more special. Here is Emma's honeymoon diary.
The Honeymoon Begins
I am sitting at Heathrow airport awaiting my departure for, what I predict to be, the most exciting and romantic holiday of my life. And it's off to a good start. One of Peter's friends bought us access to the airport lounge from our honeymoon gift list. There is nothing like a bit of pampering to make me happy, and on the plane we're having champagne (thanks to my dear old friend, Sal, who bought us honeymoon vouchers just for this). This really is going to be an exceptional honeymoon!
Arriving in Bali
Wow! This hotel is simply beautiful! We've just arrived at our hotel, The Bale, and I still can't quite believe I'm here. Everything is just perfect. To unwind after the flight (which was already pretty relaxing thanks to the bottle of bubbly!) Peter and I are going to have massages at the spa here. I must remember to thank Peter's sister for this, since she purchased all the honeymiles needed for my massage!
Our Extremely Romantic Dinner
I always dreamed of romantic dinners on my honeymoon when I was growing up, and now I am finally here! The evening was nothing short of magical. The food was excellent, the setting was beautiful, and to top it all off, the whole thing had been covered by friends' contributions on our honeymoon gift registry so the mood wasn't dampened at all by the thought of the bill.
Peter certainly needed a good dinner since he is off for a day of golfing at Bali Golf and Country Club tomorrow, which he claims is the best golf course in Bali. I think he got the honeymiles for that from his Dad, who loves golf even more than Peter (if such a thing is possible).
Arriving at Chedi Club Ubud
I'm starting to feel like royalty with all this pampering! When we arrived, we were greeted by champagne and canapés. It's an early night tonight, because we have an exciting day out tomorrow; white-water rafting down the Ayung River (and who else would have bought me these honeymiles but my adrenaline junkie maid of honour!).
I'm particularly looking forward to breakfast in bed tomorrow morning which will be a real treat; it's probably my favourite item on the honeymoon gift list. We will certainly need a relaxing start before we set out for the adventure down the river!
Tea for Two
I'm really starting to realise that it's the small things that count. We've just had an absolutely scrumptious afternoon tea at the Bird Lounge. It's something I probably wouldn't normally have spent money on, but Peter and I used our honeymoon vouchers from Sam, Peter's best man. It was such a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, and it was such a great additional little luxury.
Cocktails in Kuala Lumpur
We are now in Kuala Lumpur, staying in an executive deluxe room at the Ritz Carlton! The amazing room makes such a difference, and I'm so grateful for everyone's honeymoon gift registry contributions for this. It makes it so much more special, knowing that it's really a gift from our friends and family. Tonight we're going to the rooftop Skybar at the Traders Hotel for cocktails and canapés to round off our magnificent honeymoon.
